INTEGRATED WATER PROJECT FOR IMPROVEMENT OF THE WATER CYCLE OF THE CITY OF RUSE

The city of Ruse is water supplied only by underground sources.

Pumping station (PS) I —st raise the town of Slivo pole is a main water source for Ruse. Through two parallel pressure water pipelines - Ø 1200 and Ø 546 — water is lead to PS II —nd raise in Ruse. PS III-rd raise provides the water supply of the high zones in the city.

Major problem of the water supply system in our city is the low reliability level, fast growth of the number of the transmission mains failures. The poor operation of the systems is due to the worn out equipment of the PS and the water losses in the network.

The case without application of the investment project looks so – low reliability level of the water supply of the city of Ruse and great funds needed for operational expenditures.

When applying the project the technical water losses will be reduced by 30 % and after the renovation of the pumping units (with which the project starts) the operational expenditures will be decreased by 50 %.

The investments will have direct positive impact on the operational expenditures and indirect on the environment. And last but not least the reliability of the water supply in our city will be considerably improved.
